I have trained a lot of talent

More than 200 actors and actresses have been trained in classes I have given both directly and in conjunction with different productions where I have been engaged as a consultant.

All are now able to perform any sequence or scene where fencing or sword-fighting knowledge is required in addition to their acting experience and training.

I can work with casting directors to shortlist actors and actresses for specific projects as I have direct experience of their capabilities in different disciplines and ability with arms.

A new approach

In Captain Altatriste and later in Pan's Labyrinth there is a tendency towards actor/performers who are capable of action scenes with high technical difficulty.

For sequences where there is some risk involved it is no longer necessary to always use a specialist or stunt-double as the role can be filled with a trained and capable actor or actress. Such an individual is capable of handling the risk involved and to provide a dramatic performance (for example in close-ups, intense fight-scenes and injuries/death).
